Visit the local wineries
The Callaway Vineyard & Winery—one of Temecula’s most prominent wineries—helped put Temecula on the map. It is conveniently located in what is known as the rainbow gap, which creates the perfect vine-growing climate: cool nights and warm days. Positioned beautifully atop a hill, the tasting room made up of large glass walls allows for a stunning view of the surrounding foothills. All of Callaway’s wine is made from locally grown grapes, and being a local winery means providing local wines; they are not available for retail in any other stores. That is why there is a wide variety of tasting options including tours and flights in addition to the daily menu options in the tasting room. At the Meritage Restaurant owned by the Callaway Winery, you can pair their signature wine with Mediterranean cuisine and enjoy live music!
Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards
Wilson Creek Winery is known as “the family winery” for its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. This is the perfect place to host weddings or parties for any occasion. The venue offers the Lower Garden available on a first come, first serve basis and the Creekside Lounge, which is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing lunch coupled with some amazing wine. Among their award winning wines, is the famed almond sparkling wine.
Ponte Winery & Vineyard
Covering 300 acres of land in vibrant green vineyards, the Ponte Winery makes a lasting visual impact. The beautiful mission-like façade of the hotel harkens back to California’s early beginnings. The amazing barnyard-style tasting room offers an elegant venue for country weddings. Additionally, the Ponte Winery includes a marketplace with unique gifts and specialty foods. Each month offers new events including Live Music Sundays and 50’s housewife-themed parties to name a few.
Take a stroll down Main Street in Temecula
Old Town Temecula is the perfect place for a lazy Sunday stroll. Main Street is lined with a long row of restaurants, shops, and everything in between. Two of our personal favorite shops are the Old Town Record store and the Old Town Root Beer Company. There are plenty of antique shops and specialty boutiques including the specialty lavender boutique and the Temecula-grown and processed olive oil vendor. Additionally, there are venues offering activities such as the Community Theater—a performing arts venue equipped with 361 seats—and Stampede—a local favorite for line dance enthusiasts.
Chance your luck, play golf or get a massage at Pechanga Casino & Resort, Temecula
Conveniently located just off the freeway, Pechanga Casino provides all sorts of attractions. Live performances from famous bands such as Earth, Wind, & Fire, and stand up comedy bring in audience members from around the world nightly. The luxurious hotel rooms are located above the enticing buffet, lounges, and bars. And of course, the main attraction is the gaming which includes slots, table games, bingo, poker, and many more.
Walk through the Santa Rosa Plateau in the Temecula Valley
The Santa Rosa Plateau, one of Riverside County’s most beautiful ecological reserves that is now open to the public, offers exitraordinary hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The grasslands provide gorgeous scenery for any activity. Additionally, there is the historic adobe building: Riverside Country’s oldest standing building that has an equally rich history. A mild hike past the seasonal vernal pools provides access to this historical landmark.
Visit all the great shops the Temecula Promenade has to offer
Laden with restaurants offering ambient outdoor patios—most of which allow canine companions—the Promenade Mall is much more than just a place to shop. Two of our favorite restaurants are Yardhouse and Lucille’s Barbeque. At the heart of the mall sits a large movie theater that provides entertainment everyday of the week. The Promenade is a great place to pick up a new outfit, grab a Starbucks, treat yourself to a mani-pedi, or find that must-have piece you’ve been searching for to decorate your home.
Make plans Memorial Weekend to see the Temecula Wine and Balloon Festival
Held at Lake Skinner, the Temecula Wine and Balloon Festival provides a fantastic opportunity to indulge in wine tasting from local vineyards and to be amazed by the vibrant balloon spectacle. Live music, food stands, and other vendors also help to create the lively atmosphere of the festival.
